Alaska Airlines is offering more than 3,000 free flights to those impacted by the Maui fires last August. The Maui CARE Flights program is a collaboration between the airline, Gov. Josh Green, Maui County Mayor Richard Bissen and the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement.

The DOJ said it would decide within 90 days of the two airlines declaring substantial compliance with the DOJ's second and presumably final document request. On Tuesday, both airlines did that in filings to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, which effectively sets Aug. 5 as the deadline for the DOJ to decide on the merger.

Alaska Air Group has agreed to buy Hawaiian Airlines in a $1.9 billion deal including debt. The airlines announced the agreement Sunday. Alaska will pay $18 in cash for each share of Hawaiian, whose stock closed Friday at $4.86.
