Summer Youth Opera Program. Open Enrollment for youth grades 5 - 12 boys and girls. A NEW opera about Mo`o (Dragons) on Maui with super powers. "Scales" Based on an original story by a native Hawaiian author, Acacia Awai and a local raised composer and HYOC alum, Tonia Ko, DMA. Intensive 2.5 week afternoon program. Monday to Friday June 12-28, 2024. Learn Hawaiian legends, culture, daily instruction in drama & stage craft, vocal coaching. Develop your child's performance skills. Courtyard Yoga continues at the IBM Building alongside CorePower Yoga on Wednesdays from 5pm – 6pm. Classes are suitable for all fitness levels. Improvisation is a great way to break out of your shell. MUSICAL improv is a great way to break out of your shell with an extra side of jazz hands!
In this two-day workshop, students will learn the basics of musical improv comedy. This class will focus on song structure, on the fly group movement, and incorporating songs into scenes.
NO MUSICAL OR VOCAL TRAINING REQUIRED. Seriously, this will be a fun, safe space where you can express your voice the way you want to.
An accompanist will be provided.
Prerequisite: We recommend that participants have some improv experience, but it is not required.
