Gary Hickling
Host, Singing and Other SinsGary Hickling loves sharing art song (that combination of poetry set to music for voice and piano by a classical composer...think Brahms’ Lullaby or Schubert’s Ave Maria). He’s been doing that on Hawaii Public Radio since the summer of 1988. First, his program was called “Great Songs”, but when “song” lost its meaning as something sung, he changed the name to “Singing and other Sins”. A classical double bass player, Hickling played in orchestras in New York (under Stokowski), Munich, Berlin, Denver, Los Angeles, and Manila. He played for 13 years with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra. His nine volume iBook set Lotte Lehmann & Her Legacy is available without charge from Apple Books.
