Select Hawaiʻi schools educating students of military parents have received funding from the Department of Defense Education Activity to improve STEM learning initiatives. Campbell-Kapolei, Kailua-Kalāheo, and Leilehua-Mililani-Waialua complex areas will each receive $2 million for separate projects.

The U.S. National Science Foundation awarded $5 million to support Pacific Islander students studying marine and environmental science. According to the University of Hawaiʻi, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders are highly underrepresented in STEM disciplines.

Chaminade University of Honolulu has received a $10M grant from the U.S. National Science Foundation to implement a new data science program. The first session begins next month.
