Tuesday Student Takeover

Bobby Goldyn is a pianist, singer-songwriter and plays the guitar. The Seabury Hall Junior is a classically trained pianist, plays in a band with friends, and just recently won an award in the national competition, Young Arts, in the singer-songwriter category.

Violist Keon Sagara is a graduate of Punahou School and visits Classical Pacific while on Winter Break after his first semester at Eastman School of Music. Keon shares valuable advice with students looking to apply and audition to music schools and programs.

Noah Mirkay is a junior at University Laboratory School in Honolulu. On Noah's takeover, he told us about his full life with his school's Piano Club, Speech Team, Volleyball, playing viola in the school orchestra, piano lessons, his golf ball business and more!

Ashley Ikeda plays the piano, sings, arranges music and plays percussion at Punahou School. The tenth grader tells us about the music that she is working on, her arranging, and teaching elementary students how to play music.

Punahou graduate and 2nd year Chemistry major at Caltech, Bao Nguyen shares some of his experiences as a pianist and violinist at the prestigious school.

Mililani High School sophomore, David Chan comes from a musical family. He plays the piano and the cello, and with a concert just around the corner, he shares with us some of his favorite pieces and some advice to young music students.

Hanahau`oli School harpist, Leia Kandell is also a dancer. She is interviewed by her father, Jordan Kandell before running off to a rehearsal for Ballet Hawaii's Nutcracker.

Singer with Hawaii Youth Opera Chorus, Sophia Victorino is a junior at Iolani School, and is grateful for her piano teacher Jill Fong who helps her with her technique, as well as arranging and composing. Sophia brought in beautiful music and energy to our Tuesday Takeover.

Zumi is a senior at Kaiser High School and is the concert master in the schoolʻs orchestra. In this Tuesday Student Takeover, Zumi brings in fun music and offers great advice to young musicians.

Logyn Okuda talks about his composition studies at Chapman University. The Iolani School graduate is a drummer and a composer. In this interview, Logyn shares some of his experiences at college, and we hear some works from this brilliant musician.
